Reel Handling Guide

Midal reels are packed taking utmost care to ensure that the reels are not damaged in transit. We would however like our customers to inspect delivered reels for any damage during shipment when reels are delivered and the same to be informed to carrier as well as to Midal. It is recommended to take a few pictures of the reel showing the damage.
Reels are to be unloaded using correct industry practices to ensure no damage to the reels or the conductor. Unloading from a vehicle may be done by crane or forklift. If unloading and reel handling is done by crane, a shaft through the arbor hole should be used. If a fork lift is utilized, the forks must lift the reel perpendicular to the flanges and the forks must be long enough to make complete lifting contact with both flanges and not with the conductor or protective Nolcoflex. Reels should be unloaded from vehicles using forklift or crane and are not be dropped to the ground from the vehicle.. Care is to be taken to ensure that the equipment used does not damage the conductor. Equipment should also not contact with Nolcoflex covering, if the same is used.
When a reel of conductor is to be rolled from one point to another, it is to be rolled in a direction opposite to the direction of unwinding and care must be taken to see that there are no objects in the route which could contact or damage the cable surface or laggings or Nolcoflex
